About Us

Why we are here

Divorce Without Debt was founded in 2026 to give women who have been emotionally and financially harmed by divorce litigation funding the information, language, and community they need — to understand what happened, to know their options, and to help change a system that failed them.

We are calling for urgent action to introduce greater transparency, consumer protections, and regulatory oversight of divorce loans. We have been through significant distress as a result of litigation funding, on top of the stress of divorce.

Whether you have been impacted or not you can support us by talking about it with your friends and family, litigation loans are not widely known about and can be embarrassing. You can also write to your local MP to push for more protections.

“Litigation lending in family law raises profound concerns where vulnerable women, often already under extreme emotional and financial pressure, are further subjected to spiralling debt and harmful financial arrangements. Any system which permits predatory lending practices in the context of post-separation abuse or bereavement risks deepening trauma rather than supporting access to justice. It is vital that the experiences of those affected are heard, that proper safeguards are restored and that transparency and accountability are strengthened to protect families from further harm.”
